Cochimi
The Cochimi are an indigenous people from the Baja California Peninsula in Mexico. Historically, they inhabited the region around the Gulf of California, particularly in areas like San Felipe and Puertecitos. Their culture was primarily based on fishing, gathering, and hunting, utilizing the rich marine resources available in their coastal environment.
The Cochimi language, which is now nearly extinct, belongs to the Yuman language family. Efforts have been made to document and preserve their cultural heritage, including traditional practices and stories. Today, the Cochimi people are recognized as part of the broader indigenous heritage of Baja California.
