Clinical Breast Exam
A Clinical Breast Exam (CBE) is a physical examination of the breasts performed by a healthcare professional. During the exam, the provider checks for any unusual lumps, changes in size or shape, and other abnormalities. This exam is typically part of routine health check-ups, especially for women over the age of 20.
The CBE is an important tool for early detection of breast cancer and other breast conditions. It is usually recommended every one to three years for women in their 20s and 30s, and annually for women aged 40 and older. Regular exams can help identify potential issues early on.
