Mammogram
A mammogram is a special type of X-ray used to examine breast tissue. It helps in detecting early signs of breast cancer and other abnormalities. During the procedure, the breast is placed between two plates that compress it to get clear images. This process usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes.
Women are often advised to start getting mammograms at age 40, but those with a family history of breast cancer may need to begin earlier. Regular mammograms can significantly increase the chances of successful treatment if any issues are found.
