Citrus Greening Disease
Citrus Greening Disease, also known as Huanglongbing (HLB), is a serious bacterial disease affecting citrus trees. It is caused by the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus, which is spread by the Asian citrus psyllid, a small insect. Infected trees show symptoms like yellowing leaves, misshapen fruit, and overall decline in health, leading to reduced fruit production.
The disease poses a significant threat to the citrus industry worldwide, particularly in regions like Florida and California. There is currently no cure for Citrus Greening Disease, making prevention and management strategies essential for protecting citrus crops and ensuring the sustainability of the industry.
