Huanglongbing
Huanglongbing, also known as citrus greening disease, is a serious bacterial disease affecting citrus trees. It is caused by the bacterium Candidatus Liberibacter and is primarily spread by the Asian citrus psyllid, an insect that feeds on the sap of citrus plants. Infected trees often show yellowing leaves, stunted growth, and produce bitter, misshapen fruit.
The disease poses a significant threat to the citrus industry worldwide, leading to reduced yields and economic losses. There is currently no cure for Huanglongbing, making prevention and management strategies, such as controlling the psyllid population and removing infected trees, essential for protecting citrus crops.
