Chutia people
The Chutia people are an indigenous ethnic group primarily found in the northeastern region of India, particularly in the state of Assam. They have a rich cultural heritage and are known for their traditional practices, festivals, and crafts. Historically, the Chutia community played a significant role in the region's history, especially during the Chutia Kingdom, which existed from the 13th to the 16th centuries.
Today, the Chutia people are recognized for their contributions to the cultural diversity of Assam. They primarily speak the Chutia language, which belongs to the Tibeto-Burman language family. Efforts are ongoing to preserve their unique traditions and promote their rights within the broader socio-political landscape of India.
