Christina of Sweden
Christina of Sweden was born on December 18, 1626, and became queen regnant of Sweden from 1632 until her abdication in 1654. She was the daughter of Gustavus Adolphus, a prominent king known for his military leadership during the Thirty Years' War. Christina was highly educated and known for her interest in arts and philosophy, attracting many intellectuals to her court.
In 1654, Christina abdicated the throne, converting to Catholicism and moving to Rome. Her decision to leave the throne was controversial, as it defied expectations for a monarch. Christina's life and reign remain significant in discussions about gender, power, and culture in 17th-century Europe.
