Chiefdoms
A chiefdom is a form of political organization that is more complex than a tribe but less so than a state. In chiefdoms, a single leader, known as a chief, holds authority over a group of communities or villages. This leader often inherits their position and is responsible for making decisions, managing resources, and maintaining social order.
Chiefdoms typically have a hierarchical structure, with the chief at the top, followed by nobles or elites who assist in governance. They often engage in agriculture and trade, and their societies may have distinct social classes. Chiefdoms can be found in various regions around the world, including parts of Polynesia and Africa.
