Chickamauga
Chickamauga is a significant Civil War battle that took place from September 18 to September 20, 1863, in Georgia. It was fought between the Union forces, led by Major General William Rosecrans, and the Confederate army, commanded by General Braxton Bragg. The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the Confederates, marking one of the largest battles in the Western Theater of the war.
The conflict was notable for its intense fighting and high casualties, with approximately 34,000 soldiers killed, wounded, or missing. Following the battle, the Union army retreated to Chattanooga, which set the stage for further military engagements in the region.
