Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park
Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is located in northwestern Georgia and southeastern Tennessee. Established in 1890, it was the first national military park in the United States, commemorating the significant battles of the American Civil War that took place in the area, particularly the Battle of Chickamauga in September 1863 and the Battle of Chattanooga later that year.
The park covers over 5,000 acres and includes numerous monuments, trails, and historical sites. Visitors can explore the preserved landscapes, learn about the battles through interpretive programs, and enjoy recreational activities such as hiking and picnicking in this historically rich environment.
