Braxton Bragg
Braxton Bragg was a Confederate general during the American Civil War, known for his role in several significant battles. Born on March 22, 1817, in North Carolina, he graduated from the United States Military Academy in 1837. Bragg served in the Mexican-American War before rising to prominence in the Civil War, where he commanded the Army of Tennessee.
Despite his military experience, Bragg's leadership was often criticized, leading to conflicts with other officers and diminishing support among his troops. He is best known for his involvement in the Battle of Chickamauga and the Battle of Chattanooga, where his strategies faced scrutiny and ultimately contributed to the Confederate defeat.
