Cheng Hao
Cheng Hao was a prominent Chinese philosopher during the Song Dynasty, known for his contributions to Neo-Confucianism. Born in 1032, he emphasized the importance of moral self-cultivation and the innate goodness of human nature. His ideas laid the groundwork for later thinkers, influencing the development of Confucian thought in China.
Alongside his brother Cheng Yi, Cheng Hao founded the Liangxi School, which focused on the study of li (principle) and qi (vital energy). His teachings encouraged a deeper understanding of ethics and personal conduct, shaping the intellectual landscape of East Asia for centuries.
