Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba
Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba was a prominent Senegalese religious leader and founder of the Muridiyya brotherhood, which emphasizes hard work, spirituality, and community service. Born in 1853 in Mbacké, he became known for his teachings on peace and non-violence, advocating for the importance of education and self-reliance among his followers.
Bamba faced opposition from colonial authorities in French West Africa due to his influence and popularity. He was exiled multiple times but continued to inspire his followers through his writings and teachings. He passed away in 1927, and his legacy remains significant in Senegal and beyond.
