Chavundaraya
Chavundaraya was a prominent figure in the history of the Western Ganga Dynasty in southern India, known for his contributions to both military and cultural aspects of the kingdom. He served as a general and was instrumental in expanding the territory of the dynasty during the 10th century.
In addition to his military prowess, Chavundaraya is celebrated for his patronage of the Jain faith and for commissioning the famous Gommateshwara statue in Shravanabelagola. This monumental statue, carved from a single rock, stands as a symbol of peace and non-violence, reflecting the values of Jainism.
