Charles VIII's Reign
Charles VIII was the King of France from 1483 to 1498. He ascended to the throne at a young age after the death of his father, Louis XI. His reign is noted for the beginning of the Italian Wars, as Charles sought to expand French territory by claiming the Kingdom of Naples.
During his rule, Charles VIII also focused on domestic policies, including strengthening royal authority and promoting the arts. His reign ended abruptly when he died in a tragic accident, leading to the ascension of his cousin, Louis XII, who continued the military campaigns in Italy.
