Charles II of France
Charles II of France, also known as Charles the Bald, was a king who ruled from 843 to 877. He was the grandson of Charlemagne and played a significant role in the division of the Carolingian Empire. His reign was marked by conflicts with his brothers and external threats, particularly from the Vikings.
Charles II is best known for his efforts to consolidate power in West Francia, which is part of modern-day France. He established the Duchy of Aquitaine and worked to strengthen the monarchy, although his reign faced challenges from nobility and regional lords seeking greater autonomy.
