Channeled Scablands
The Channeled Scablands are a unique geological formation located in eastern Washington State. They were created by massive floods during the last Ice Age, specifically from the Missoula Floods, which occurred around 15,000 years ago. These floods carved deep channels and created a rugged landscape characterized by exposed rock, canyons, and large boulders.
The area is known for its distinctive features, including dry waterfalls and large, flat-topped hills called plateaus. The Channeled Scablands provide valuable insights into the effects of catastrophic flooding on the environment and are an important site for studying geology and paleohydrology.
