Scablands
Scablands are unique geological formations characterized by a landscape of exposed rock and sparse vegetation. They often result from catastrophic flooding events, such as those caused by the Missoula Floods during the last Ice Age. The intense erosion from these floods shaped the land, creating deep channels and large boulders scattered across the terrain.
These areas are primarily found in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, particularly in Washington State. The rugged terrain of scablands provides important insights into the Earth's geological history and the processes that shape our planet. They are also home to various plant and animal species adapted to the harsh conditions.
