Chakri dynasty
The Chakri dynasty is the ruling royal family of Thailand, established in 1782 by King Rama I. This dynasty has played a significant role in shaping modern Thailand, overseeing major reforms and modernization efforts throughout its history. The current king, Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as Rama X, ascended the throne in 2016.
The dynasty is known for its contributions to Thai culture, including the promotion of Buddhism and the arts. The Grand Palace in Bangkok, a symbol of the dynasty's power, serves as a major tourist attraction and a site for royal ceremonies.
