Caratacus was a British chieftain of the Catuvellauni tribe who led resistance against the Roman invasion of Britain in the 1st century AD. He became a symbol of British nationalism and is known for his leadership during the Boudica's Revolt and other conflicts against Roman forces.
After being defeated, Caratacus fled to Roman Britain and sought refuge with the Celtic tribes. He was eventually captured and brought before the Roman Emperor Claudius, where he famously defended his actions, leading to his eventual release and settlement in Roman territory.
