Canes Venatici is a small constellation located in the northern sky. Its name means "hunting dogs" in Latin, and it represents the dogs of the hunter Bootes. The constellation is best known for its two main stars, Alpha Canum Venaticorum (also called Cor Caroli) and Beta Canum Venaticorum.
Canes Venatici is home to several interesting deep-sky objects, including the Whirlpool Galaxy (M51) and the Sunflower Galaxy (M63). It is visible in the spring months and is bordered by the constellations Ursa Major, Hercules, and Coma Berenices.
