Beta Canum Venaticorum
Beta Canum Venaticorum, also known as Chara, is a binary star system located in the constellation of Canes Venatici. It is approximately 24 light-years away from Earth and is one of the brightest stars in its constellation. The system consists of two stars that orbit each other, with the primary star being a spectral type A0 main-sequence star.
The two stars in Beta Canum Venaticorum have a combined apparent magnitude of about 4.3, making them visible to the naked eye. The system is of interest to astronomers due to its relatively close proximity and the characteristics of its stars, which provide insights into stellar evolution and binary star dynamics.
