Canaanite Religion
Canaanite religion was a polytheistic belief system practiced by the ancient peoples of Canaan, an area that includes modern-day Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, and parts of Syria. The Canaanites worshipped a variety of gods and goddesses, with Baal being one of the most prominent. They believed these deities controlled natural forces and human fate, and rituals often included offerings, sacrifices, and festivals to gain their favor.
Central to Canaanite worship was the concept of fertility, as many of their gods were associated with agriculture and the harvest. Temples and high places were built for worship, where priests performed ceremonies. The Canaanites also believed in the afterlife, which influenced their burial practices and rituals surrounding death
