Cactus Rat
The Cactus Rat, scientifically known as *Neotoma intermedia*, is a small rodent native to the arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is well-adapted to desert environments, primarily feeding on the seeds and fruits of cacti, which provide both nutrition and hydration.
Cactus Rats have a distinctive appearance, with a soft, grayish-brown fur and a long, bushy tail. They typically inhabit areas with dense vegetation, such as cactus patches and scrubland, where they build nests in burrows to escape extreme temperatures and predators.
