Bushveld Complex
The Bushveld Complex is a large geological formation located in northeastern South Africa. It is known for its rich deposits of minerals, including platinum, chromite, and vanadium. This complex is one of the largest layered igneous intrusions in the world, formed around 2 billion years ago.
The Bushveld Complex is divided into three main zones: the Merensky Reef, the UG2 Reef, and the Platreef. Each zone contains different mineral resources and is significant for mining activities. The area plays a crucial role in the global supply of platinum group metals, making it an important site for both industry and geology.
