Burbot
The Burbot is a freshwater fish belonging to the cod family, known scientifically as Lota lota. It is unique among its relatives because it is the only member of the cod family that lives in freshwater environments. Burbot are typically found in cold, deep lakes and rivers, and they prefer habitats with rocky or sandy bottoms.
Burbot have a long, slender body and can grow up to 30 inches in length. They are characterized by their mottled brown and yellow coloration, which helps them blend into their surroundings. This fish is primarily nocturnal, feeding on smaller fish and invertebrates during the night.
