Bunya trees
The Bunya tree, scientifically known as *Araucaria bidwillii*, is a large evergreen tree native to the subtropical rainforests of eastern Australia. It can grow up to 50 meters tall and has a distinctive conical shape with thick, spiky leaves. The tree produces large, edible seeds known as Bunya nuts, which have been a traditional food source for Indigenous Australians for thousands of years.
Bunya trees thrive in well-drained soils and prefer a humid climate. They are known for their impressive size and longevity, often living for over 300 years. The trees play a vital role in their ecosystem, providing habitat for various wildlife and contributing to the biodiversity of their native regions.
