Bunya nuts
Bunya nuts are the seeds of the Bunya tree, a large conifer native to eastern Australia. These nuts are encased in a hard shell and are typically harvested from the tree's large cones, which can weigh up to 10 kilograms. Bunya nuts have a starchy texture and a flavor similar to chestnuts, making them a popular food source for both humans and wildlife.
Traditionally, Indigenous Australians have used bunya nuts as a food source for thousands of years, often gathering in large groups during the harvest season. Today, they are enjoyed in various dishes, including soups, salads, and desserts, and are celebrated for their nutritional value and unique taste.
