Breast Self-Examination
Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is a simple method that allows individuals to check their own breasts for any changes or unusual signs. It involves looking at and feeling the breasts to identify lumps, changes in size, or skin alterations. Regular BSE can help in early detection of potential issues, including breast cancer.
To perform a BSE, individuals should stand in front of a mirror and visually inspect their breasts for any irregularities. Then, using the pads of the fingers, they should gently feel the entire breast area, including the underarm, in a circular motion. It is recommended to perform BSE monthly, ideally a few days after the menstrual period.
