Brahmi Script
Brahmi Script is one of the oldest writing systems in the Indian subcontinent, dating back to around the 3rd century BCE. It is considered the ancestor of many modern scripts in South Asia, including Devanagari and Tamil. The script is characterized by its unique characters, which represent both consonants and vowels, allowing for a phonetic representation of languages.
Brahmi was primarily used for writing Sanskrit and Prakrit languages and is often found on inscriptions and ancient manuscripts. Its development marked a significant advancement in the ability to record language, contributing to the spread of literature and administration in ancient India.
