Brachycephaly
Brachycephaly is a condition characterized by a broad, short skull shape. It occurs when the growth of the skull is restricted, often due to early fusion of the cranial sutures, which are the fibrous joints between the bones of the skull. This can lead to a flattened appearance at the back of the head and a wider forehead.
The condition can be congenital, meaning it is present at birth, or it can develop over time due to external factors, such as prolonged pressure on the skull from sleeping positions. Treatment options may include repositioning techniques or, in some cases, surgery to correct the shape of the skull.
