Blasco Núñez Vela
Blasco Núñez Vela was a Spanish colonial administrator born in 1490. He is best known for being the first Viceroy of Peru, appointed in 1544. His tenure was marked by conflicts with local indigenous populations and challenges from Spanish settlers, which ultimately led to his downfall.
Núñez Vela's administration faced significant opposition, particularly from Francisco Pizarro's supporters. In 1546, he was defeated and killed in a battle against rebel forces led by Gonzalo Pizarro. His death marked a turbulent period in the early history of Spanish rule in South America.
