Black Greek Life
Black Greek Life refers to the network of historically Black fraternities and sororities that are part of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). These organizations, often called the "Divine Nine," were established to provide support, community, and leadership opportunities for Black students, particularly during times of racial segregation and discrimination in the United States.
Each fraternity and sorority has its own unique history, values, and traditions, but they all emphasize service, scholarship, and sisterhood or brotherhood. Notable organizations include Alpha Phi Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, and Omega Psi Phi. Members often engage in community service, social events, and educational programs to uplift their communities.
