Birsa Munda was an Indian tribal freedom fighter and folk hero, born on November 15, 1875, in the Ulihatu village of present-day Jharkhand. He played a crucial role in the Indian independence movement by leading the Munda Rebellion against British colonial rule. Birsa was also a religious leader who promoted the faith of Birsait, which sought to reform tribal society. He became a symbol of resistance and is celebrated as a martyr, with his birthday observed as Birsa Munda Jayanti in several states, honoring his contributions to tribal rights and Indian history.
