Biafran War
The Biafran War, also known as the Nigerian Civil War, took place from 1967 to 1970 in Nigeria. It was primarily a conflict between the Nigerian government and the southeastern region, which sought independence as the Republic of Biafra. The war was fueled by ethnic tensions, economic disparities, and political struggles following Nigeria's independence from British colonial rule.
The conflict resulted in significant loss of life, with estimates of one to three million casualties, largely due to famine and military actions. The war ended with the reintegration of Biafra into Nigeria, but its legacy continues to influence discussions about ethnic identity and governance in the country.
