Bhutanese Democracy
Bhutanese Democracy refers to the political system in Bhutan, a small Himalayan kingdom that transitioned from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional monarchy in 2008. This change allowed for the establishment of a parliamentary system, where the King retains a ceremonial role while elected representatives make decisions on governance.
The first elections were held in 2008, marking a significant shift in Bhutan's political landscape. The National Assembly and National Council are the two main legislative bodies, and political parties play a crucial role in the democratic process, promoting citizen participation and accountability in governance.
