Beta Piscis Austrini
Beta Piscis Austrini, also known as Fomalhaut, is a bright star located in the constellation of Piscis Austrinus. It is approximately 25 light-years away from Earth and is classified as a main-sequence star of spectral type A3V. Fomalhaut is notable for its high luminosity and blue-white color, making it one of the brightest stars in the southern sky.
Fomalhaut is also famous for its surrounding debris disk, which suggests the presence of a planetary system. In 2008, astronomers discovered a planet, designated Fomalhaut b, within this disk, making it one of the first exoplanets imaged directly. This discovery has provided valuable insights into the formation and evolution of planetary systems.
