Berengaria of Navarre
Berengaria of Navarre was a medieval queen, born around 1165, who became the wife of Richard the Lionheart, the King of England. She was the daughter of Sancho VI of Navarre and was known for her beauty and intelligence. Berengaria married Richard in 1191 during the Third Crusade, but their marriage was largely political.
Despite being queen, Berengaria spent much of her life apart from Richard, who was often away on military campaigns. After Richard's death in 1199, she returned to Navarre, where she lived until her death in 1230. Her legacy includes her role in the royal lineage of both England and Navarre.
