Battle of Zallaqa
The Battle of Zallaqa, fought in 1086, was a significant conflict between the forces of the Almoravid dynasty and the Kingdom of León. The battle took place near the town of Zallaqa in present-day Spain. The Almoravid army, led by Yusuf ibn Tashfin, aimed to defend Muslim territories from Christian expansion.
The Christian forces, commanded by King Alfonso VI, sought to reclaim lands in Iberia. The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the Almoravids, which temporarily halted the Christian Reconquista efforts in the region. This event marked a crucial moment in the struggle for control over the Iberian Peninsula.
