Battle of Pharsalus
The Battle of Pharsalus took place on August 9, 48 BC, during the Roman Civil War between the forces of Julius Caesar and Pompey the Great. Caesar's army, though smaller, employed strategic tactics that led to a decisive victory against Pompey's larger forces in Thessaly, Greece.
Following the battle, Pompey fled to Egypt, where he was ultimately assassinated. The victory solidified Caesar's power in Rome and marked a turning point in the civil war, leading to the eventual rise of Caesar as the sole ruler of the Roman Republic.
