Battle Of Yarmouk
The Battle of Yarmouk took place in 636 AD between the forces of the Byzantine Empire and the Rashidun Caliphate. It was a significant conflict during the early Islamic conquests, marking a turning point in the struggle for control over the Levant region. The battle occurred near the Yarmouk River in present-day Jordan and involved a large army of around 100,000 Byzantine soldiers against approximately 40,000 Muslim troops.
The Rashidun forces, led by Khalid ibn al-Walid, employed effective tactics and maneuvering, ultimately achieving a decisive victory. This battle resulted in the collapse of Byzantine power in the region and paved the way for the rapid expansion of Islamic rule across the Middle East.
