Bartolomeo Rastrelli
Bartolomeo Rastrelli was an Italian architect and designer, born in 1700 in Florence. He is best known for his work in Russia, particularly during the reign of Empress Elizabeth. Rastrelli's style is characterized by the use of elaborate decorations and grand proportions, which exemplified the Baroque and Rococo architectural styles.
His most famous projects include the Winter Palace in Saint Petersburg and the Catherine Palace in Tsarskoye Selo. Rastrelli's designs significantly influenced the architectural landscape of 18th-century Russia, leaving a lasting legacy that is still celebrated today. He passed away in 1771.
