Barren Desert
A barren desert is a dry, arid region characterized by minimal vegetation and extreme temperatures. These areas receive very little rainfall, often less than 10 inches annually, which limits the growth of plants and animals. Common features of barren deserts include sand dunes, rocky landscapes, and sparse shrubs.
Despite their harsh conditions, barren deserts are home to unique ecosystems. Some animals, like camels and lizards, have adapted to survive with little water. The soil is often sandy or rocky, making it difficult for most plants to thrive. Barren deserts can be found on every continent, including the Sahara in Africa and the Mojave in North America.
