Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline is a major oil pipeline that transports crude oil from the Caspian Sea region in Azerbaijan to the Mediterranean Sea port of Ceyhan in Turkey. It spans approximately 1,768 kilometers and was completed in 2005, providing a direct route for oil exports while bypassing areas with geopolitical tensions.
This pipeline connects with other important infrastructure, including the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline, enhancing energy security for the region. It plays a crucial role in diversifying energy supplies for Europe and reducing dependence on oil from the Middle East and Russia.
