Bait al-Hikma
Bait al-Hikma, or the "House of Wisdom," was a major intellectual center during the Islamic Golden Age, located in Baghdad. Established in the 9th century under the Abbasid Caliphate, it served as a hub for scholars, translators, and scientists from various cultures, including Persian, Greek, and Indian.
The institution was renowned for its vast collection of texts and manuscripts, promoting the translation of works into Arabic. Scholars at Bait al-Hikma made significant contributions to fields such as mathematics, astronomy, medicine, and philosophy, influencing both the Islamic world and later European thought.
