Bagler party
The Bagler party was a faction in medieval Norway that emerged during the civil wars of the 12th and 13th centuries. They were primarily supporters of the royal family, particularly the descendants of King Sigurd II, who claimed the throne against rival factions. The Baglers were known for their opposition to the Birkebeiner party, which supported another branch of the royal lineage.
The conflict between the Baglers and the Birkebeiners was marked by battles and shifting alliances, significantly impacting Norway's political landscape. The Bagler party was eventually weakened and diminished in power, leading to a more unified monarchy under King Håkon IV in the late 13th century.
