Baba Gurdit Singh
Baba Gurdit Singh was a prominent Indian freedom fighter known for his role in the Ghadar Movement. Born in 1885 in Punjab, he later moved to North America, where he became involved in efforts to liberate India from British rule. He was a key figure in organizing Indian expatriates to support the independence movement.
In 1914, Baba Gurdit Singh famously chartered the ship Komagata Maru to bring Indian immigrants to Canada. This voyage became a significant event in the struggle against colonial policies. His efforts highlighted the challenges faced by Indians abroad and inspired many to join the fight for India's independence.
