Avaris
Avaris was an ancient city located in the northeastern part of Egypt, specifically in the Nile Delta region. It served as the capital of the Hyksos during their rule over Egypt in the Second Intermediate Period, around 1650 to 1550 BCE. The city was strategically positioned near trade routes and the Nile River, which contributed to its economic significance.
Archaeological excavations at Avaris have revealed impressive structures, including palaces and temples, showcasing the city's wealth and cultural influences. The site provides valuable insights into the Hyksos culture, their interactions with native Egyptians, and the eventual expulsion of the Hyksos by the Egyptian pharaohs.
