Asaph Hall
Asaph Hall was an American astronomer born on October 15, 1829, in Goshen, Connecticut. He is best known for discovering the two moons of Mars, named Phobos and Deimos, in 1877. Hall's work significantly advanced our understanding of the Martian system and contributed to the field of planetary science.
Hall worked at the United States Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C., where he conducted extensive research on celestial bodies. His discoveries were made using a large telescope, which allowed him to observe and document the moons' orbits and characteristics. Hall passed away on November 22, 1907, leaving a lasting legacy in astronomy.
