Arras Memorial
The Arras Memorial is a war memorial located in Arras, France, dedicated to the British and Commonwealth soldiers who died during the First World War and have no known graves. It was unveiled in 1930 and features the names of over 35,000 soldiers inscribed on its walls. The memorial is situated near the Faubourg d'Amiens Cemetery, which contains the graves of many soldiers.
The design of the Arras Memorial was created by architect Sir Edwin Lutyens, known for his significant contributions to war memorials. The memorial is part of the Arras battlefield area, which saw intense fighting during the war, particularly during the Battle of Arras in 1917. It serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during the conflict.
